Back to Work - the story behind
Last February, I decided it was time for me to work on this business full-time - or whatever full-time means when you are a mom of 2 little kids (currently 20 months & 4.5 years old), run a household with your partner, love to travel and want to set up a business because it’s something that you feel passionate about. I help working mothers find clarity about their goals and dreams, so that they feel confident to take their next step(s) without sacrificing themselves and their own needs.
Why this business? Because I have been there. After my second son was born, I felt overwhelmed, scared, lonely, exhausted. I was at home with two tiny humans who had their own sets of needs that they voiced VERY loudly, and my own needs and dreams just slipped into the background. What helped me get through this? Journaling. A LOT. I remember journaling with my notebook on a pillow and a baby in the other arm. Support - from my husband, our families, neighbours and strangers who have become family in the past 20 months. Therapy. Coaching. Finding out what I need, listening to myself, my body and forcing myself to take the time to look after myself. Because it does not come easy, especially with a baby or young children at home. It’s easy to loose yourself, to ignore your needs, to stretch yourself too thin. And at the end of the day, a burnt out parent is not what we want for our kids.
As parents, especially here in Switzerland, it seems like we are not much supported. We have a great, liberal economy and a relative financial stability. But families are not a priority, neither in politics nor in society. We are often left on our own, trying to figure things out as we go along while raising tiny humans into hopefully decent adults. As moms, we are expected to go back to work sometime between 4-6 months after the birth of our child. Depending on our employers, we might face a lot of prejudice, from not working enough hours to being less productive (on what grounds?). At the same time, childcare is very expensive and rare - and once the kids start school, it gets even more tricky! We have a lot on our plates and are expected to do it all: as parents, we need to work (not too much, not too little), have 2-3 children (not too many, but 1 is not enough), be happy and productive all the time at work (because if we are not, it feeds into the cliché that mainly moms work only short hours and leave their colleagues hanging when they need to look after their sick child) and also love being a parent at every moment (because we chose this).
This is where this coaching programme comes in. In a recent market research survey, I realised that many working moms face similar challenges: not enough time to do it all, too much on their plate, juggling family, work, household and more, no time for themselves or their own needs, no idea what they would like their life to look like. I have created a programme to support you in these challenges and find YOUR way forward, your personalised action plan and simple steps that you can fit in easily into your daily life. It’s short, simple and powerful. For 4 weeks, we will sit together each week for 30 minutes to focus on you! Your needs, your dreams, your life.
My aim for this programme is to offer a short and sweet coaching experience to you. Something that you can fit in time for in your busy mum life (if you are anything like me, reducing time on social media is the first step to get more time without relying on any external and/or paid help). In some recent experiments with short coaching sessions - coaching speed dating ;) - I have realised how much we can get done in 30 minutes when we put our focus onto it. This is the experience I want to give you: to meet you where you are at, offer space for yours dreams and a future visualisation, and then find ways for you to move from feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, energy-less, to a more focused, intentional, a bit better rested life. I think it’s especially valuable for mothers who are already stretched on time to really squeeze the most out of a short period of time together and come up with a very specific action plan of next steps to take. This can look like taking 10 minutes a day to work around the block when your partner gets home, doing a 5 minute meditation before falling asleep, turning off the TV and reading the books on your to read list, putting your phone aside to be more present with the kids, planning a date night out with your husband… There is no answer fits all and the exciting part is that we get to explore together what it is that you need right now in this season of your life!
I’d love to walk next to you on this journey and support you with the necessary tools for you to go from overwhelm to feeling empowered, confident and content as a mom and in your career. You can find more information on the programme on the website. If you have any questions or would like to sign up, simply drop me a mail and I’ll be in touch :).
